i went from stock (20x10x9) tires on my 400ex to 18x9x11 shedder and didn't change sprockets but i plan to in the near future but for the purpose of more speed. so to answer your question i don't think to you to change sprockets but it won';t hurt if you do

Running smaller tires effectively LOWERS the gearing of your 300 EX. Thereby increasing the low end power of the quad. You can remedy this somewhat by going to a 14 tooth front sprocket> if you still desire more speed, you may even try a 37 tooth rear sprocket.

Your bike is geared for a particular tire size so if you change to a different tire size you should also change your gears to retain the specific gearing. When changing to a smaller diameter tire you could do two things 1)go up on the front sprocket or 2)go down on the rear sprocket.

15-38 being stock-w-20 inch tire.
would leed me to believe,,,
14-37 or a 14-36 would be the fix with a 18.
top end,,13-33.

I run a 14-39 with 22's =10% lower than stock.
And have a 40 for billy goat.

stock is 22-10-9, i went down to 20-11-9 shredders on my 300EX and i went to a 14 tooth (stock 13/38)front sprocket. it evened it out to very near stock. you could try 15/38 to even it out or 15/36 if you crave top end ssppeedd!!

I stand corected, All though I find it hard to believe a 22 come stock on a 300. Reference confirmed.

Anyway 14-37 Would put you right, Left of center or 14-36 for top end.

Stock is 13-38, no confirmed listed.Hmmmmm?

here's the deal, you need a 14 in front and 37 in back. I don't think you can put a 15 on the front of a 300ex. if you still want more top speed put a 36 on the rear. ok later
