I would like to know which quad you think is better for trail riding and maybe a few hill climbs and the top speed of both

The Mojave is a better trail rider, it has a very tight turning radius and the reverse feature is easier to use by far. I would choose the 300ex for everything except trails it has more power and is faster on top speed still the 300ex is awesom on the trails just doesn't tur as tight and is harder to use reverse. The Mojave is kick start it's very frustrating at times your foot will slip off and a big kicker with a heavy spring comes back and whackes you in the shin it hurts like heII. The 300ex is electric start it's very handy espically in cold weather. Both have advantages for your riding conditions it's like 50 50. My main thing is the 300ex has electric start, I'm not lazy but if you've had a mojave you know what I mean

I Would Get A 300EX Thier Really Nice Quads. I've Been Going 70MPH On Mine And It's Stock! To Ride A Wheelie On It All You Have To Do Is Pop The Clutch In 1st or 2nd Gear. I Do A Ton Of Trail Riding and it Does Just Fine. I've Had Mine In Mud A Foot Deep Without Getting It Stuck. I Love The Electric Start Too.

I Hope You Find What You Want.

70 MPH???? Is that while it's in tow? Top speed on a stock 300EX is 52 MPH, give or take a MPH or two.

Thats odd, I have a 300EX with many "magical" mods(more on those on request) as well as an '01 DS, and all I have to say is the 300 is not a 70mph machine. Oh yes, it is capable, but that takes a substantial amount of money, as well as a huge change in gearing. Of course, if you have a 25 tooth front sprocket, you might do 70 mph.

Sorry, to answer your question hannah, they are both great bikes, but the 300 gets the nod from me as the easiest to ride, as it doesn't want to loop like the mojave may on large hills, and it feels much more comfortable. However, the Mojave has more modifying potential in the engine department. I think the Mojave tops out at 53, and the 300 around 51.

It could be with the Honda 300EX that when you are going 52mph it feels like 70 mph.

I know when going at or near the top speed it feels unsafe to me.

They're both good quads, but the Honda does have an edge in electric starting and headlight power. I used to ride with a Mojave guy and when we rode at night, his headlight was very dim at idle. If he reved the motor it would get bright, but who wants to keep the motor reved all the time. It all has to do with a lack of a battery on the Mojave. The Mojave does have the edge in ease of reverse access, though.

My brother had a Mojave that was very old. It was well maintained though and ran perfect. A new one will last forever if you take care of it. They have a lot more power than you would expect in a very compact package. They also cost less, which is a factor for a lot of people. It would be near perfect if it wasn't a kick start.
