Is it a good idea to put a in-line fuel filter on my 400ex? Would it keep it cleaner? Would it save cleaning the carb? I don't think it would lose power. I wonder why they don't put one on from the factory?
My other question is my 400 is still stock, and my son rides behind me on his warrior Ha Ha, He says that when I give it full throttle fluid drips from my pipe out the end. I'm guessing it's gas. Does that mean it's too rich or is this normal. I haven't done any thing to it. It's a 2000.

If the bike is cold it could be condensation. If it is fuel it needs to be checked out immediately.

Even if the engine is warm or hot? I figured it might have been gas or water. I wonder if any one else has noticed this.

I would think if you were running rich enough to drip liquid fuel out the pipe, you would have a serious power & black smoke problem also. Probably condensation of some sort.

If you run a fuel filter, make sure to get a really free flowing one. Remember that there is no fuel pump and that the carb depends on gravity to feed it fuel. Someone stuck one of those cheapie fuel filers on my 250R before I bought it. During extended full throttle runs, it would run out of gas & bog until the fuel level in the carb caught up. I removed the filter & replaced the line and have had no such problems since.
