Default How many of us are left?

It seems lately, the forums are consumed of Cannondales, DS650's and those Raptor things... I was just wondering how many 'antique' riders are still out here? I love Chawness's(I think) signature...

TRX250R - A design so advanced, it's still being copied today.

So who on here still puts around on the original 'all *****' racer? Mods?

Yep I still have the old 86'. With all sorts of goodies on the way!

Stock plastic, frame, swing arm.
Have TCS shocks, +2,+1 LS a-arms,s-stem, axle, lock nut, rs 200w stator & lights, CT pipe&silencer(to replace with FTZ torque in frame) roll foot pegs, ac nerfs, hinson clutch, greydon bumper.

Wants: lrd chassis, no-link swing arm (86' lenght; -1), merrill extreme front end with no bind pivots(can it be done?), and porting the cylinder has never been done.

oh yeah rims and tyres hole shots xct, duglas rims .190 nothing special.
37mm air stryker carb (bored 35mm - it may be 36.5mm but who cares)

Don't feel alone.....I have 2 '88 250R's....The first one is red(the good one). Purple powder coated frame(no welds), X-33 axle, Twin row carrier, Good rebuilt stock rear shock, Works pro series fronts, Arens +2 a-arms, Galfer rotors, steel braided brake lines, RPM anti-fade, Ims 3.6 gal tank, Rad valve, ESR exhaust flange & TRX 5 pipe, TMX 36mm carb., Cool head, Uni filter, AC nerfs & bumpers, Hinson inner & outer hub, '89 Updated of course, Wiseco crank, Renthal bars. I think that's about it. I love this thing...If I had to choose between it and my wife..Hum....

The second one is white(the crappy one). Black spray painted frame(with MANY welds), Eliminator axle, twin row carrier, Good rebuilt stock rear shock, Ohlins fronts, Front rims flipped inside out, FMF pipe, Uni filter, '89 clutch update, Ims 3.6 gal tank, Ac nerfs. That's about all....This is the one that is used for those hill climbs that I don't think I'll make it to the top, or trying that jump for the first time..LOL....I have NO desire to ride a new 4 stroke. Maybe when I retire!

Still have my 87R. My four year old has a 85 ATC70. They always run and have never made us walk or get towed to the truck.

87R
.040 over
reeds & spacer
works shocks all around
I would do more to it but if it is not broke I do not fix it.

I still have my 1986 Z28 purchased new if that counts.

Its just a big 4/wheeler that stays in the garage.

I am quite happy with my 400EX. I am still adding mods. According to all of the mags out, compared to the new and improved quads out there, it is now an antique.

hey lonestar, is there a honda under all those mods? no, i'm not flaming you.
we had this discussion the other day in yamaha. when is it no longer a 250r, for example, what level of factory content? i know the ATVA is working on this question too. good quads, i wish i could afford one, but i have a full shed already... have fun guys.

any old POS you can come up with, especially 2 wheels, i've probably owned or ridden....and ya, we're talking maico, hodaka, penton, need i say more? wow

i gotta follow this thread to see whats still alive out there...have fun dudes.

A Honda under all what? My 250R is pretty much all stock. Yeah I can see your point though. To me, a 250R is a 250R if it has 250R crankcases. Everything else is optional

I have some of that "old stuff" still in the fleet with no plans to part with them. The mid to late 80's was a good time to be in the Honda camp. When I purchased the ATC250R in 85 it took some time to get used to the awesome power of that machine, this was my first experience with 2 strokes and it was by far the wicked-est machine I'd rode at that time on 3 wheels. At a weak moment in time I parted with that trike to buy a TRX 4X4, I soon reallized my huge mistake. Fortunaltely Honda built a very large number of the 85's so in the spring of 87 I purchased new through the dealer another 85 model which I still posess today. It stills looks virtually like the day I bought it, stock bore, no mods other than a pipe/silencer. It's just a classic to sweet to part with.......
