Very nice bike I like the push button start. It is not a CR so do not think you will have the power of a two stroke. But they have the power to get you around with out much work.

tbooten1,

The looks of the new crf230 are improved 100% over the XR200.

I had a XR200 for a brief period of time back in 1997. It was reliable and got me where I wanted to go but looking at the new crf230 on Hondas website the suspension looks the same as the XR200.

The suspension on the XR200 is setup for someone that is way under 150 pounds and I found out the hard way.
While the front shocks worked well, the rear suspension would bottom very easily no matter how they were adjusted. For myself it ruined the whole aspect of the bike and at that time wished I would have purchased the XR250.

What I did do was to trade that XR200 in for a Kawasaki kdx220 which ran circles around the XR200 in every way. I now own a KDX200 which would run off and leave the crf230. I just don't know how you are going to use the bike.

I weighed in at 165 pounds, so I just wanted to give you some information on what I learned back in the past.

tbooten1,

I would say for your weight you are going to be disappointed if the crf230 has the same shock as the XR200.

You could fix that with an good aftermarket shock.

The front on the XR200 was air adjustable which helped but I am not sure on the crf230 without looking at one.

That is a small bike for a guy your size!! This is a bike for the wife, not for a big guy. The Jan Dirt Bike has a brief review.
