pensy250ex,

Probably the only thing the 300EX has going for it is the price, that is exactly $900 more expensive than the 250EX. For that, you get a (very) little more preformance, a wonky reverse gear (even worse than the 250EX) and a slightly more suspension travel. For the money, you'd be better off going with a 400EX, which is exactly $900 more than the 300EX (or $1800 more than the 250ex). If and when you master your 250EX, then you should consider moving up to the manual clutched machine like the 400EX.

I agree with Mike Chero
on this one. I use to own a 300EX and the jump from a 250EX to a 300EX won't get your blood boiling. While the 300EX is a better handling quad than the 250EX I feel like for the money spent it would be wise to check out the 400EX.

I went over to are local Honda dealer the other night and its a good thing they were closed because sitting out front chained up and very dusty was a still unsold 2002 red model.

I just wonder how much they would have sold it for. I just don't feel like going back now since I am all warm and comfy by the fire.

I would look into a 250 or 400.

I guess I'm the only one that feels the 300EX does almost everything a lot better than the 250EX. It's 10x more stable, the suspension is worlds better than the 250EX, the motor has quite a bit more power and you can feel it, the reverse is not a big deal if you ask me, I can get in and out of reverse almost as fast as my brother does on his 250EX. But thats just my opinion.

01TRX300EX,

Yeah, but the 400EX is worlds better than the 300EX. The 300EX isn't a bad machine, but when you can go from the 250EX to the 400EX just by learning how to clutch manually, why bother with the 300EX (unless you REALLY need reverse).

One of the magazines called the 300 a HALF-STEP up from the 250 (where the 400 is a full-step). I agree with TRX300 that the 300 is better than the 250 in every way, BUT it isn't worth upgrading only a half-step if you already have a 250!! Just be happy riding the tires off your 250, until you are ready to step up to a performance machine.
