The machine will not start in gear unless you have changed something so IF it want's to start on it's own in neutral than go to the cheepest thing to change out and I would guess that would be the starter button. By the way have you thought about asking a Honda Mechanic about this problem? Sometimes they are of great help.

sounds to me like your starter solenoid/relay is shorting out and causing your starter to engage. Your starter button doesn't get power to it when in gear so it most likely isn't that---unless it tries to start itself when it is running and in neutral only, then it may be the starter button but still unlikely.
