Default ESR 370 Powervalve.........

Darren from ESR called me today to tell me that my cases were being bored today and go over what i wanted to do exactly.I was planning on getting the 350 ESR PV.I also sent him my crank. He is stroking my crank and he suggested i do a 370 Powervalve (he said it will actually be a 380)and i didnt know they had a 370 PV but i said Hell Ya!!I have a few questions for all you....
1.Will my stock Radiator be sufficient in cooling the 370?

2.Would you pick the Top End kit (9 i think)or the Low Mid(7 i think) kit?I ride Dunes and Trails. My thinking is go with the Top end because the Powervalve should already give me enough low.He suggested i do the Low Mid Porting.

3.How much faster will this be than my 310 ESR?

4.They said they couldnt do a Nikasil. Is that really important?

Thanks guys.............late,zubbeyboy

They told me to go with the 350 pv when mine was being built (about a month ago) hmmm. I had them do the low-mid fwiw. If you get your quad together before mine let me know how it goes.

Did he tell you what kind of numbers the 370 pv or the 350pv or the 380pv would put out on a dyno?

I wouldnt beleive what they told you anyways as far as dyno numbers go. They quoted us 75 horses....haha. My bike would only pull a 14/38. We did our own port job on it after that and picked up a lot more power (running a 15/36 now). Your correct i feel, i would go with the top end port job though, you dont need so much bottom end to where you'll be blowing the tires away with a simple blip of the throttle. Your stock radiator will be fine, you dont need anything bigger. It will be faster then your 310 IF you have a esr 310. I know i can port a 310 and beat an ESR 370. But equal ports the 370 will have more torque. Nikasil is nice because once the chrome starts to wear out you just replate it. To where your 370 sounds like its on 79mm bore? to where you only have 1 bore left before the sleeve is shot. And on top of that the last bore (80mm) is junk anyways because the top of the sleeve isnt strong enough to handle the compression and it will chip off anyways. So yeah...nikasil is better, they run cooler as well.

I wouldnt say his work is bad. Dont get me wrong, his work is better then CT, LRD, Trinity...all the big name shops. For the type of riding we do (drag racing) he cant touch some of the work others can, even us, and we just reported his and made approx 10 more horses (estimating by being able to drop 6 teeth and still come out of the hole hard). His work is good, thats not a question, i just kNOW he can make his motors faster if he gave a damn.

Maybe its not so much "giving a damn" as it is avoiding liability issues.

If he makes a cylinder too thin by excessive porting, it can crack (I've had this happen myself).

If it is too crazy of H.P., someone could get injured, and sue him.

I'd rather he did a good job and stayed in business, than to do an outrageous job, and go out of business due to liability suits!
