Default Snowblower problem......

I know that perhaps this not should be posted in an ATV forum, but there are many knowledgeable people here who i know could help....i had the carb cleaned and adjusted on a blower that was lying up for 3 years....it now starts with the first pull and will run until the tank is empty....my concern is that last night as i was clearing a path behind the house in the dark, i noticed that part of the exhaust was red hot, and that the engine backfires every few seconds and shoots blue flame out of the exhaust...any thoughts on what is causing this?...and more importantly, will using the blower in this condition for a few days cause any damage...thanks in advance for your help folks...i know it shouldn't be posted here but i couldn't find it on the internet anywhere.

I do believe it is an over rich condition. Tpo fuel race cars have flames coming out their exhaust and that is just raw fuel that could not be burnt in the cylinders. I know your snow blower is not a top fuel, but I just wanted to use an example. Check your spark plug for color, if it is black its too rich.

I live in Utah in the Rocky Mountains about 15 miles from Snowbird Ski Resort, the way the crow flys, and I havn't even put gas in my snow blower yet. Yesterday was sunny and 55 degrees and there is no snow at lower elevations. Great ATV weather but no one will be watering their lawns this year.

Turn the choke on 1 click, mine does the same thing when real cold (-10 to +5), its a lean condition, so turning the choke up 1 click will richen it.

thanks foreman.....mine does it when warm as well....it was very mild last night but the symptoms were the same...to adjust the mixture is it the screw on the bottom of the bowl or the one on the side with a spring.

Beautiful area and endless ATV trails. My wife and I are trying to start a business in southern Utah in the center of the Paiute Trails, one of the largest ATV trail systems in N. America. It has over 2500 miles of trails that run through 3 National Forests. If this works out we will ride our ATV to work. Heaven.

I have a friend that travels to Canada at least once a year to hunt and has been is several different areas and everytime he returns all he can talk about is hao gourgeous is it up there.

Sure hope I need my snow blower this year.

I live in Canada's most eastern province....Newfoundland....we have thousands of miles of trails here as well...our forests are mostly composed of spruce, fir and birch, but not really tall..there are some beautiful white pine forests here as well...our hunting is wild and fantastic...fantastic moose hunting.....we don't need land permits...practically the whole province is open to hunting....our fishing is great, with the eastern brook trout and atlantic salmon being the main targets....we have nice warm summers usually, but our winters can be damp...a lot of snow this year, but raining today....so that makes for a mess....we havea mountain range, but nothing that compares to where you live...it's nice but i have always dreamed of visiting the Rockies...maybe someday..
