400EX v.s the world
#1
i previously sold my wolverine to get a sport quad, i dont have enough money to buy anything brand new, so i have to get something used...i dotn want a 2-stroke, so i came to the conclusion that i want to get a 400EX.
I know that they arent even close to the fastest four wheeler anymore, but while im in stock form what other sport quads can i beat.......warrior, scramblers, mojaves, etc.
any input is greatly appreciated.
thanks guys

just keep saving. in my opinion you will end up not happy in the long run with a 400. there is too much technology out now to spend your hard earned dollars on a second rate bike. the z400 or kawi400 are two times the machine in that range. jmo

It all depends on what kind of riding your doin. a 400ex might not be to great in a drag race or in the dunes but if your in the woods ridin a 400ex isnt second rate. alot of it has to do with rider ability. i mean i can keep up with the raptors, r's , and yes even the Z's on my 400ex and i am very happy with mine. and also there are so many mod's u can get for an ex that u can make it preform just as well or better than anything out there.

Second rate!!?? Give me a break.
The Z might pull a bike length on it in a race. (or two, WHO CARES!!) The EX has a PROVEN air/oil cooled motor, and all the suspention the Z and the Raptor have. (they both coppied the EX's!)
Drives me crazy when someone says something like "there is too much technology out now to spend your hard earned dollars on a second rate bike. the z400 or kawi400 are two times the machine in that range".
Two times the bike? How?? They are SLIGHTLY faster, have less low end torque, the same suspention, and reverse.
The cooling isnt an issue, because the EX's NEVER overheat. Reverse? Lazy.
I guess the 250R is a "second rate" bike too.

OK. Ill type it once more.
Zuki, and Yami copied the frame and suspention design from the 400EX.
ps. What does Yam and Zuk copying Honda 400EX/R have anything to do with the first quad ever?
ps again: I RIDE a Suzuki.
Ive also owned 2 400EX's.

suzuki may have been the first on four wheels, but damn bro...their first 4-wheeler wasnt anything to brag about. Honda got it right their first time and its STILL the baseline all quads were built off of.

well thats good, i didnt even have to state that i was going to be driving my ex in the woods the majority of the time.....so it is a "good" trail machine? Drag racing isnt of my biggest concerns, i just dont turn challenges down, and i know that i would be asked to race, and i was wondering what it can "still" beat.
Really the only quads i want to know if it can beat are the piped and jetted warrior, and a scrambler 500, because two of my buds have them and are already runing their mouth.....thanks guys, im getting the EX.

wasnt there a problem with the z-400's rear suspension? i hear that when Zuki designed the swingarm mount, they left the original mount on the DRZ-400 dirtbike engine, which is higher than the swingarm mount on a quad. seems that the suspension was locking out whenever the gas was given, and was a problem. thats what ive heard, correct me if im wrong
