too much wheel spin

Default too much wheel spin

i have an 86 250r and i have way too much wheel spin. i have 18 inch holeshot mx. i have a 13 tooth front sproket, and I think I have a 45 tooth back sproket. I can get into about 3rd gear pinned from almost a dead stop. i dont know what my gearing is so im thinking about changing it. any ideas?? thanks alot

dont mess with the back at first, start with the front go up 1 tooth at a time

going up one tooth in the front is like coming down 3 teeth in the back or vise-a-versa

the fronts easer to change,,,, then later buy more sprockets and start having funnnnnn tru different combos

Stock gearing is 13:39 with 20" tires, your running 13:45 with 18" tires??? You should be able to launch in at least 3rd. 14:38 should get you where you need to be depending on the size of the track if indeed your racing.

Most people on modded R's run somewhere around 13/39. I run 15/36 on my 4 strokes with 18" tires.

Your gearing is way to low. you could probably pull a jumbo jet with your R right now. Take the rear to about 38T or 36T then change the front plus 1 tooth at a time till you like what you get.

Yes gear that puppy up. I run 13/44 for running on 4X4 trails with my Ute buddies. On my 250R ATC I run 14/38 in the dunes & still pull easy 2nd gear holeshots.

You obviously have no clue what a 250R is, or what it feels like
to hang on to the bars!!!

Bring your Rincon over to the west side of the state and i will
show you what my rear grab bar looks like from far far far behind !!!

Yea, i need to change my gearing because i am so slow on top end a 300ex could would be a close drag [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-blush.gif[/img] i will try what some of you guys said... and would tire pressure make a diff.? if so i am running 5lbs

i have a 416ex, im using stock gearing now, im thinking of trying 16/36 like your setup. You think this setup will work good in a 300 ft drag? i have a 16 sprocket but i havent tried it yet, i will try with 16/38 first. With the 16/36, did u have to modify the chain any or kept the stock length? thanks
