ne 1 who buys a 400ex is just a dumb a*s, i am a honda fan and ive always been pretty loyal to honda. i used to love the 400ex but as soon as the z came out i had to ride 1. i traded in the 400ex in august 4 my first suzuki, i was never really a big fan of suzuki but i have to say they got it right with the z. it has way more top end power and it will beat the 400ex pretty much every where. now if honda comes out with sumthing else and lives up to there name"performance first" and if it gives the z a run for its money then i might be trading the z in, but untill them u cant buy a better quad than a z400!

Price is the only consideration I can see. You can get huge discounts on the EX (like $1,300). And, if you are just a trail rider, the power is adequate.

thats one of the dumbest things i have ever seen, you would buy a 400ex because it can be found for thousands less than a Z and the z is only slightly better for the money difference.

 

i love my z400 my friend had a 300ex when i got my z he had to get something bigger so he got the 400ex stock for stock the z is a little faster

Proven reliability
Cheaper replacement parts
More readily available used parts market
Easier maintenance for the average joe fixing his own quad
Easier chain adjustment.

All-in-all, an out-the-door price of $4,100 is probably the biggest reason. Why buy a z400 when you could get a 450? This is a better question.

plus i have heard of some stuff going wrong with the z like with the liquid cooling and hoses and stuff
