Folks,

I am looking at new tires for my '87 350 Four-Trax. I still have the original "knobby" style 2-ply tires (the originals).

The riding we do is mostly hard packed sand trails, muddy trails, and some playing in the swamp.

This machine is tough to steer at the best of times (4wd, straight solid axles front and rear). I am reluctant to go too aggresive on the tread for fear of making it impossible to steer. Besides, I don't think the kind of terrain this machine sees warrants it.

The Kenda Bear Claws look to be a pretty decent tire. I am going to stick to the stock size all around (24x9-11). What are your thoughts on this particular tire? Suggestions for an alternative tire?

Thanks, DJ

Deej,
Thsat's the same tire that I have on my 400 Foreman. I love em. They are great on hard pack, good in mud, and don't tear up th eyard too bad when I'm mowing the grass. They seem to be pretty tough. I haven't had any flat trouble as of yet, and I ride nasty trails with lots of briars and Locust trees (thorny) and rocky creek beds. I can't say much for durability since I have only had them for about a month. Good luck.

esears,

Thanks for the response. Ordered the tires today from a local tire shop. They had a way better price than any of the motorcycle or ATV shops around here. They are costing me $97 each Canadian. That is installed. Probably sounds scary to you but the conversion rate is USD x 1.47 to get Canadian dollars.

They look like great tires. Can't wait to get 'em.

Deej, I think you'll be well satisfied with the Bear Claws. I have them on my KQ and altho I don't ride it very often (my main ride is a Warrior), the don't seem to be too difficult to turn. Here on the Az hard pack, they seem to hook up well but probably won't wear as long as a less agressive tread pattern, but in softer terrain should be okay. BYTW, I run about 5 lbs PSI on hard ground & that makes for easier steering & protection from rocks. You could probably drop a pound where you ride.
