Rancher 4X4 or rancher 4X2?
If you are mostly going to use it as a work bike or have a lot of mud/snow, then you probably want to get the 4X4. If you are going to do some faster trail riding, then maybe the 2X4. The 2X4 handles kind of sporty (as good as a Warrior or 300EX), and is a blast to ride. And, the 2X4 is lighter than the 4X4 by 35 lbs. The 4X4 front end will "hunt" on some surfaces (the steering will fight you a little). I don't like the stock tires on either bike (the ITP Holeshot ATR's are really nice and improve handling!).
Keep in mind that once you get the bike, you will have so much fun, you are going to want to go trail riding other places, not just on your own property!!

I agree with Dirtpigs analysis of how the 2x4 will behave...however, i would get the 4x4....if you want a 2-wheel drive, get a aport bike.....with the 4x4, the 4wd is there when you need it...and you will need it....also, you can buy an unlocker...which will allow you to switch back and forth between 2wd and 4wd....just my opinion....however, the 2wd rancher is indeed a fun bike to ride..
