Question for TRX~R owners

Booth agree with 250R4Life's menthods.
Have had a problem with too much.
Measuring out 700cc is good if you've just done a split-case, otherwise, for oil changes, etc., just use the check bolt method.

You'll find if you start using the check oil bolt you will eventually strip the threads. It is true that if you drain your oil quickly and put the drain plug back in and fill up with 700cc of oil, you will have a little too much, the reason, is because of all the oil in between the plates takes a long time to drain out. That's why it's a good idea to drain while the motor is warm and allow plenty of time to drain all the oil out. But indeed the best way is just to measure out 700cc and pour it in. I put thread lock on my oil check bolt, never to take it off again!

I have had 5 250R's and I always did what 250R4life said.
Unless you can guarantee that you got all the oil and the same amount out every time then you will end up with more and more oil in the motor each time you change which should be fairly often and you will end up blowing the seal on the countershaft out of the case.
Granted, you will want to be aware when you pour the oil in that it takes time to fill up both sides of the gearbox and if you pour it too fast it will run out the check oil bolt hole too early, so fill her up slowly and let it settle a couple of times and start to come out the check hole more than once to make sure you got the other side full. Yes, it will be about 700cc's each time but better safe than sorry.
I have seen one too many vehicles that had their oil changed at the quick lubes with too much oil in them and the filter too tight because the book said the car took 6 quarts no matter what and they don't bother to check where it really is.

out of a 32 fl oz bottle i put in 24 fl oz. i save the left over and every fourth oil change is free. never had a problem yet. just my 2 cents.
