Plastic Polish
#1
Has anyone tried PC Racing plastic renewal kit? Does it work? I heard it's alot of work doing it. I've used Armoral and STP polish they both work great but I'am looking at getting the deep scrates out. some help would be nice! Thanks!

PC plastic renew does a great job! I did my sons '84 LT50 last winter. It had some scratches but lots of oxyadation on top surfaces. There is a fair amount of prep. work. Plan on removing plastic and any bolt on flares etc. First step is most important, you must do a good sanding job or you're wasting your time. After that it's easy. Each coat of pc renew takes about 5 min or less. After coat #4 or 5 it really starts to look good. Be sure to buff with fine steel wool every 3 or 4 coats. I touched mine up a few weeks ago with 2 more coats - it had been about 5 months and had a few scratches in the new surface. Touch up worked great too. All in all it's a good product.

Josh1,
I have an '87 Yam 350 that was trashed. It's blue now but when I got it, it was almost white. I called every dealer within 50 miles and everybody was out of Plastic Renew, so I decided to do it myself. I wet sanded all the plastic with 240 grit then 400 grit sandpaper, leaving the water run over the area I was working on all the time. It not only took out the scratches, it also got rid of all that oxidized crap. Once that was done I just put on some real good car wax. It looks like a new one. It took me about 6 hours and a twelve pack, to do the whole quad, but it was well worth it. I hear that the plastic renew works well, but it seems a little expensive to me. $20/bottle. They recommend for deep scratches that you wet sand it anyway. My point is, I think that it is the wet sanding that makes more difference than the Plastic Renew.
