400ex SPROCKET HELP FROM EXPERTS
#2
What is your question??? well theirs only a few answers on sprocket questions.
1. Smaller front sprocket= less top speed, better acceleration
2. Larger front sprocket= more top speed, less acceleration
3. Smaller rear sprocket= more top speed, less accel
4. Larger rear= less top speed better take off. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get about 3 front sprockets and experiment with different sizes and leave your rear stock unless it needs replaced, it's easiest to switch front sprockets takes about 5 min where the rear involves taking off the wheel/ hub it's an easy 20min job for the rear
As far as sprocket materials go, I would get nothing but steel unless you want to replace you sprockets very often, aluminun wears twice as fast and cost twice. I can see on a race quad where every ounce of weight counts but it's only like 2 pounds: steel vs aluminum
You can't really buy a bad brand of sprocket, it's a product that's raw material. If it was me I'd get the cheapest possible sprockets you can buy
The front sprockets will make more of a difference when you swap them out, 1 tooth in the front is like 2 or 3 in the rear. I would say the rear is for fine tuning . Like if you put 3 teeth less in the rear it's gonna make the same diffenence as 1 tooth bigger in the front
