2003 Honda Rubicon Problems!
#1
My brand new Honda does the following: In ESP mode 1 fine, 2 fine, 3 fine, 4th you hear a click, then FLASHES! Downshifting from 4 goes to 2nd. It never went into 5th! Also, I can't get the 'codes' to find out what's wrong! It flashes about 2 times per sec. continously. Any help? I just got the Service Manual. Sometimes in Regular driving mode it suddenly starts to flash.....

Take your brand new Rubicon to the dealer!!! It sounds like a shift sensor problem but I would take it in under warranty. That way it will be documented with Honda so in the future if it happens again you will have it on paper to back you up that it is a recurring problem. C.Y.A.!!

Yeah, bring to the dealer, but check your electrical couplers first if it's a big hassle, specially the ones behind the right sidecover\right rear tire, and the ones behind the inner front fenders. If the speedo is acting weird, it's probably a speed sensor. Replaced at least one of those recently on a pretty new Rubicon. The self diagnostic has worked fine for me on them so far.

More than likely its the angle sensor. You should be able to get the trouble codes out of it. But, since its new, I personally would head straight back to the dealer.
