I got the new machine I was asking about...Green Foreman 450 S and I will add my winch as soon as it is repaired. Anyway while doing some cruising around today I noticed the drive shaft turns even when the switch is in 2wd. Is this normal? This is the first machine I have had with part time 4wd so I was just wondering. Thanks

 

If it is like most other 2wd/4wd quads that I have seen, that is normal. When you put it is 4wd, it locks the hubs. That is what does the switching from 2wd to 4wd-your hubs.

 

I have a warn 424 selector and the switch is done in the front shaft. Even in 2wd the engine turns the shaft B4 the unit, but the unit doesn't transfer the power to the wheels. Likewise when moving the wheels turn the front part of the shaft, but the unit doesn't have the two pieces locked so no power is going to the wheels.

 

Totally normal like everyone else has said.
