I had one when I was growing up and if it will do 61 mph my buddies warrior must have gone 81 because he always kicked my butt, heck a 250 big red would out run my 250 fourtrax.

You prolly clocked it in the back of a Yugo putter with a trailer... just kidding. Out of curiosity, did you do any modifications?
Or did you have the hill to cheat and strong head wind to help you - I think that's what's happenin' here cuz pop had a 1984 trx 200 that went about 35 - 40 mph on hi.

i had a 87 250 and uphill,downhill or level ground 35-40 was all it had.it wouldn't stay up to a 200x.

I had a 1984 trx 200 and i went on the highway with my friends once and once i hit full speed, i could stay right up with them. (They had a recon, and two 300's and all of them were hondas and newer models)
i say we were going about 45mph

Now now, it's not nice to lie. I have an
'85 250es with 25 inch tires on the back and it has a difficult time going forty five - it just isn't geared tall enough.

Enlighten us - what did you do to it?

Really, wow they must have geared the big red down when they did the engine change from 200-250 becase my stone stock 83' big red 200ES is geared so darn high that it lugs hard and can hardly rev out in 4th hi range! 60+ easy.. stays with the yamaha grizz on flat road until i hit a hill No joke.. clocked with a truck and a garmen GPS III at 60 and it wasnt nearly wound out.. I'd like to know what is wrong with your 85 Big Red Jenksboy. I have an '86 (the same thing) and mine will go faster than a Kawi Prairie 4x4. On a good stretch of road a Griz and a Sportsman were ahead of me and they weren't pulling ahead by very much, if any.
