Need some help checking my fan on Rancher
#1
I need and electrician or someone who has done it, to guide me through checking to make sure my oil coiler fan is working or not. Its seems like it has been a long time since it has kicked on, and I know it takes awhile for it to kick on, but I just want a procedure to check it every once in awhile to make sure it is working properly.
Thanks

Just ride it very very slow on a warm day for about an hour. I take mine (01 Rancher 4x4 es) looking for arrowheads, so I drive real slow for a long time, and it seems like after an hour or so....IT WON't SHUT OFF! LOL. I think you could just let it idle with the choke pulled up a lil bit to increase the rpms...then give it about 30 mins or so.....if after an hour, it hasnt come on.....u prob have a problem.

You can verify the electrical function of the fan by grounding the wire that goes to the thermosensor. It's mounted on the engine by your left foot. If you ground the wire that plugs into the sensor with your ignition on, the fan should run and also your temp light will be on. Of course this doesn't eliminate the sensor as being a problem (if there is one) but it verifies all the other wiring, fan motor and the fuse. If this checks out, I would say don't worry about it unless your temp light comes on and the fan isn't running.
