You have to be kidding, $1250 for an 88! I believe there are laws against things like this, you would be robbing him. An 88 is the most desirable year, $2500 is what you would expect to paid for a broken down clunker. $1250 is pocket change, hell I would buy it, site unseen!

First year with aluminum swingarm, first year the geometry was changed with swingarm being 1" shorter and 1" forward on a-arms. These changes some would say enhanced it's riding characteristics. It's also the only year with the red plastic. Light was integrated into the plastic as well, not that I particularly liked that idea. I also believe in '88 they went to a thicker foam in the seat, more comfortable ride!

The most noticable differences that briansgi mentioned really come down to personal preference. The -1 inch aluminum swing arm places the weight a little further back for better traction and easier wheelies but by the same token the longer 86/87 swinger let's you launch a little harder without the front end coming up. The truth is that the differences are minimal, they are all great.
