Splitfire Sparkplug for Honda TRX 300 4x4?
#1
I was wondering if it would be helpful/harmful to put a splitfire sparkplug on a 300 4x4. A friend told me that he had heard it could make your engine heat up more with a "non-stock" sparkplug, is this true. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Don't waste your money on the Sh!tfire plugs, tried them once, it ran worse than stock NGK, if you really want more than just the stock NGK (hard to beat, great plug) go with the platinum version of your plug number, supposed to fire cleaner and burn fuel a little better, but will cost you about 7 bucks a plug versus 1.75 for a regular NGK.

It would most likely run the same with either plug if they are the same heat range. I agree with previous posters, don't bother. However, in the wintertime, or under 40F, a one range hotter plug is recommended by Honda. Your stock plug is an NGK DPR8EA9, the hotter plug for cold weather use is NGK DPR7EA9. The feedback I have gotten from the guys who use their machines for ice fishing, snowplowing etc. , is that they start and run better with the hotter plug in the winter.

Thanks alot, all this helps very much, i knew the plug sieand the hotter plug stuff, but didn't know how good the splitfires were. Think I'll go for platinum NGK's then. Appreciate all the feedback.
