Can't give an exact speed but I can give an order.

Predator
Z-400
400ex

In my opinion top speed doesn't matter always, how often do you stay WOT? And now how often do you go through the gears? I use 2nd and 3rd and 4th once in awhile, 5th on smooth trails and sand.

thanks for the info guys. i have come to a hands down decision for the predator, but i would still like to know what the top speeds of these atvs are? also, how do they handle at high speeds, and can you whip them around turns at high speeds and have no problems?

Your best bet for being able to "whip" a quad around at high speeds is the Predator. Its the widest of the 3, best steering set up, and has no "dive" or "role" suspension. I think you'd be more than happy with the predator. Laters

OK for all of you people who say "Go with the 2-stroke they are so much faster, better, etc" All fine and good but if you are in California, don't waste your money, it's only a matter of time - I give it less than 2 years and 2-stoke motors will be outlawed because of California Emissions requirments - they pollute too much. It's already an issue with boats, and other stuff...go with a 4-stroke

It doesnt matter if they ban two strokes in two years. If they do they grandfather the law and any with a two stroke already can keep it and ride it. But they wont manufacture any more. So you could get a two stroke if you wanted the speed.

When they ban them they will not grandfatehr them. Have you heard about the outboard thing? Bombardier Suzuki, and Merc all make direct injected fuel strokes that cleaner burning than their FI 4 Stroke motors, they are California ceritfied for 2006, but not allowed on Lake Tahoe, Yellowstone Lake, and a few of the other Treehugger lakes. It will be a while, maybe a few years, so I wouldn't worry too much, and they can never ban them from closed coures. They have already quit manufacturing most 2 strokes besides Banshee's, so if they did grandfather the law, you can bet that they would say that the 250r(s) would be left out in the cold (12 yrs since manufactured)
Polaris is really good at making auto quads, but I would wait a year to get a Predator (ask the Raptor guys who bought the 2001, and that was a motor/tranny that had supposedly beed used in MZ and BMW motorcycles) It is tempting though. I bought a first year Z400 for Theo (The Old Lady) and I must admit that even though I have had zero problems, I am a little nervous.
Look at it this way, you are so lucky to have those to chose from ( I had the choices of a 400ex, Banshee, DS650). You will be so happy with what ever you buy.
Have Fun!

i personally do not like two strokes, they may be fast but they require a lot of maintenence. i want a four stroke, so which one will it be?

Best handling ---Predator
Best power ---- Predator
best suspension ----Predator
more for your money ----Predator
But go ahead and buy one of the others...hell if every one had a Predator I would have no one to roost.j/k
BUT seriously the Predator is the best bike for the money out right now hands down. Good luck
