Ever ride with dirtbikes?

Hey,
i was just curious if any of you guys ever go riding with friends on dirtbikes? not looking for any particular answer, just thought it would be interesting to hear your opinions on the pros/cons of mixed riding groups? do you find it hard to stay together? do you seek different riding terrain? do you like the variety? stuff like that.

I go riding with my cousin occasionally and he has a dirtbike. There arent really any problems, everyone goes about the same speed, there arent any dirtbike vs. quad debates since we usually switch off anyways.

a friend of mine just got a dirtbike and we went on a big ride with him. he kept getting stuck in the mud and couldn't go through the water that we went through, but when we got on trails he just sprayed us with crap as he zipped over the horizon. we couldn't even come close to hanging with him. he seemed to enjoy the ride until he got about 15 feet of air and crashed into a mud pile after a jump. we were jealous of his jumping, he was jealous of our mud riding. I won't be buying a bike anytime soon. joint rides are kinda iffy unless the terrain is void of deep water crossings and huge mud bogs.

About 1/3 of my riding clan is on dirt bikes when we go out in the woods. there are usually no problems with anybody getting left behind it gets interesting when we have our little "mini races" according to what group of guys want to run with us... The bikes are anything from a 250cc to a 500cc 2-stroke and we even have a few "thumpers" in the mix too - a couple XR650s, a WR426, a CRF450, and a KTM520... as far as quads go, the usual bunch is on LT250R, Honda 250R, 250X/300EX, 400EX, Warrior, Banshee, Raptor, Blaster, and a Zilla.... Hey,
would you say that dirtbike riders tend to get hurt more often, and more seriously, than those on atv's? just seems like i've heard more stories about somebody on a dirtbike taking a bad fall and getting hurt than i have about atv's. i'm sure it can go both ways according rider skill and maturity, but overall, what are your thoughts about riders getting hurt?

I only ride on tracks and I see more bike riders getting hurt than quad riders, but that is an unfair comparrison because the bikes out number the quads by over 10:1 at most tracks. I'm switching to bikes because they are cheaper to race and much lighter in the air. The only thing I have to get used to, is cornering on a bike. That definitely takes some practice.

I know I got seriously hurt on my dirtbike, and that is why I now stick to quads... BUT I also know several people who have been hurt on their quads. One of my friends broke his back because he was trying to climb a hill that he didn't have enough speed and skill to be trying at the time... He tried to bail off the quad but his boot got caught in the plastic and pulled him back on and the quad landed on top of him.

I ride both dirtbikes and quads and all of my worst wrecks have been on a quad. Last summer I broke 2 ribs, had dirt rash on about 60% of my back (still have scars from that), I came up short on about a 55-60 foot double and done a face plant into my renthal bars and bit all the way through my lip( have a scar from that one too) and broke two teeth, I also sprained my ankle pretty bad too. The biggest problem I have is that I go out on the track with the bike first then hop on the quad and try and do the same jumps and that usually gets me in trouble.
As for riding with different machines its all good as long as everybody has a good time!!!
