250r wont start

i have an 86 250r i was riding it this morning then i killed it...and when i went to start it back up....it started for a sec then died like it ran out of gas....then i couldnt start it...if i wait alittle bit it will start up for a split sec....so i figured it wasnt getting gas...but it is...i pulled the carb and made sure.....your feed back would be very helpful...thanx

In addition to what everyone else said pull the carb off and check the reeds with your fingers or remove the intake boot+reed cage if you have gaskets.The reeds should be closed all the way and obviously be in tack.I've seen many that would run fair but have no bottom power and would not idle because of a chipped reed.Just a thought.
