Rubicon Bubbling Gas
#1
I was wondering if anyone has had this, knows if it's normal, or if not, what may be causing it. We finally got a warm day for the first time, in what seems like years here in northern Ohio, and we were on a long ride. I eventually noticed a strong smell of gas and when we stopped I could hear a bubbling sound. I pulled the gas vent hose up and it was bubbling gas and you could see fumes blowing out. I unscrewed the cap and of course it stopped, but immediately started again when I put the cap back on. Now I know that is the purpose of the vent, but this seemed excessive and sounds like the bike is boiling.
I haven't had this in the colder weather, but it did happen once on a very hot summer ride last year and that was more understandable. I realize there must be pressure building from the heat of the motor, but never had it happen until that one time last summer. Any ideas?

While our Grizz will boil gas dang near on command, I have yet to see a Rubicon do this. If it stops when you loosen the cap the gas isnt boiling. Thats more of a normal vapor lock situation. Check the one way valve in your gas cap to make sure its not clogged.

If you ever got in the water or have a little condensation on the inside of your cap, it will plug your vent as the micron size is so small it will let fuel vapours and oxygen go through it but not liquids. I seen a rubicon that got swamped so all you could see of it was the back rack and it got a little water in the vent line and wouldn't allow it to vent. We got it dried out and it was fine after that.
