just picked up 86 250r it has twist onit now would like to change it.

 

Good luck finding a 250R thumb throttle housing. You can still buy them from honda. Something like $125. Look to Terrycable. Terry offers some billet pieces for around $75

My 86 came with a twist throttle also. Honda doesn't make all the pieces to a thumb throttle anymore so I went with a Mooseracing thumb throttle. It works so good.It has adlustments on it so you can get the throttle wide open. I had to use a factory cable cause the Moose didnt come with one. For the money, I wouldnt change ever. I think the Moose throttle pulls easyer than the stock thumb throttle anyway. I hope this helps. Happy roostin. The Ebay idea is good also.
