86 250R Magneto

I have an 86 250R that hasn't ran for a few years. we can't get any electricity out of it at all so we figure it is the magneto. I was wondering if anyone could help here.. Please let me know I would love to have it running in a few w

It is much more likely a bad coil or even the CDI than the magneto.
If it’s been sitting a long time, it may just have bad connections. I would clean and/or replace all connectors unless they are in very good condition. Sometimes they will get rust between the coils and magneto causing weak or no spark make sure its real clean in there, then see if it sparks.
If still no spark, then check the coils. If you have a manual, it should tell you how to check the coils. Inspect the magneto closely for any visible damage. Run a screwdriver around it and see if it pulls on it strong and evenly all the way around. If it does then it’s in good shape.
If all else checks out ok then it is the CDI.
