What Would Be Better New 300ex or USED 400ex
Hey Again,
I was just wondering I was thinking of getting a brand new 300ex or a used 2001 400ex. On the 300ex its brand new and has no ad on to it. But on the 400ex it has a pipe, jets, and a silincer I think. The 400ex it being sold for 3600 hundred dollars. I was just wondering what would be a better deal for my money thanks. P.S I want to ride fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Could go alot of ways on this one,but my opinion goes with the 400EX as long as it is in good, healthy condition.
Every time I rode my 400 for the two years I had it,I had insane amounts of fun,and I will always love that thing for it.

Not sure how much of a drive it would be for you, but Abernathy's Honda in Union City, TN currently advertises brand new 400ex out the door for $4350. Usually they add a $35 tax required by the city, but still that is only $4385. (www.abernathyonline.com) For comparison, Twin City Honda at Festus, MO, has a $5995 price tag on the 400ex.
In 2001, I tried talking to Twin City about matching Abernathys price on my new Honda CBR 929 and the salesman became irate. So now, they get absolutely none of my business. Abernathy's beat them by $800 on my 929. And I didn't have to pay tax on that $800 difference.

It really depends on how much experience you have and where you ride. The 300EX would be good for the woods because it has reverse. The 300EX would be new so your not getting someone's problems and it would be under warranty. The 400EX would have a higher top speed and good for more open spaces. It also depends on your size. The 300EX might be a little cramped. You really have a better idea what you need or want. I would rather the 400EX. (with reverse Honda R&D )
