k&n on rubicon
#3
I have not put a K&N on my ATVs, I have put them on two on my vehicles, one modified one stock. What I have decided is that for a stock application, there is no improvement. If you have modified the engine so it requires more air flow, a K&N in a good upgrade.
Just my observation.
I definataly don't like the idea of the K&N air filter not doing a good job when first cleaned. It takes a little dirt in the filter to get it to filter good. When I take off the Honda filter and the inside of the carburetor bore is clean, that is more important to me than a little more power.

It should run fine with the stock jetting. It would make most difference at high speed and rpm when the engine is consuming the most air. If you are interested in power, you might go up one size on the main jet. Get an OE Honda or Keihin jet for the most accurate metering. If the K&N flows more air, and your engine can use it, you need a little more gas. I largely agree with Specta tho, the job of filtering is more important than an HP here or there, in the long run.
