I recently adjusted the valves on my EX...now, is seems to be getting hotter faster than usual, and it seems to sputter a tad at half throttle. When at WOT it seems just like new. Running WB E Series, K&N w/ no lid, 155 main ( I think that's the jet). I believe my clearances were correct...005 & .004. Any ideas??

Well, it's kind of a game of cat and mouse adjusting the valves. Since you have to torque them down, I usually end up holding the screwdriver in the slot with the valve about .001 looser than the spec. Tighten the nut with a box end wrench, then torque the nut. This will cause the valve to tighten up a little bit. It usually takes 3 or 4 tries to get it right, but it works.

Did you have to change the clearance much? Are you sure it changed WITH the clearance adjustment? Does it get better or worse as the machine gets hot? You have a lot of induction and exhaust change from stock. Try adding a little choke at half throttle when it sputters, if it gets better, you need a bit of midrange jetting.
