Well heres how it started.It was a Monday and my dad and I were going to go on a ride at Greenridge State Park.Before we went there we were going to go to the dealership and get them serviced for the year and so that they would be okay on the trails.Well,we waited there and they finally got done one of them, so we loaded it onto the trailer and waited for the second one.We were standing there talking and then the dealership owner came out and told us that we wouldn't be able to take my Recon with us.It turns out that after they changed the oil,the engine case cracked.Instead of being normal thickness,the pieces that fell out were about 1/16 of an inch thick.Turns out I had a deffective engine case and they would have to order another one.Its been about 2 1/2 weeks and I still haven't gotten my Recon back.I wanted to know if anyone else had that problem or even heard about it.

 

I had to have a part of my Recon engine replaced. The inner part where the threads are was too thin. (drain hole thread wall) It's good that they found the problem. Was the Recon still under warranty? If not, I think that Honda will take care of it. They are good that way. Unless you have a garage that's not backing you on the issue.

 

This is the first I have heard of this. I own a 1999 Recon and have changed the oil alot with no problem.

The Recon isn't under warranty anymore but Honda did take care of it.I'm just glad that the case didn't crack while I was riding.That wouldn't have been good.
