I've known several people that have put that motor in a 250R chassis and none were happy with them. I mention the R as it's chassis is very similar to the EX. The 500 vibrates way too much and can do everything from cracking the frame to causing numbness in hands/wrists.

Save him the trouble, and buy mine... '86 chassis with '85 CR500 motor... WAY FAST!
We won't talk about vibration !!!

I currently own a 86 250r with a 95 cr500 motor.the head stay is rubber mounted and so is the sterring stem and clamp. the bike is so fast I can hardly hang on to it.I would only reccomend it for extreem sand use and hill shooting only.and if you have the money and time to build it rite.it smokes bansheas on meth and any four strokes, the only comp is the new trinity 135 horse motor but keep in mind my 500 has only mild porting and few other up grades.

Well for starters your friend will have to add a cooling system to the frame.

Put a Yz426 or 450f motor in it.
It will put out much more power than the 440 and won't vibrate you apart.
