Default K&N Power Kit

Does anyone have any experience with one of these? Do you think it will improve a honda 450 s enough to be worth 180.00 Can.? The bike is stock this is the only mod planned. Will it harm reliability?

I would not spend that much . I bought a #135 and #140 main jet and twinair filter for $30.00 US. My total modifications were Supertrap IDS-X , second air snorkel, #140 main, raised needle to 6th position, 3 1/2 turns out on mixture screw. For a stock exhaust Foreman I would go with A #135 main 5th position raised needle (lowered clip) 3 turns out on mixture screw and TwinAir or K&N filter. You will notice a decent power incease with those modifications.

The numbers that you mentioned for the jets are they stock honda jets or something else? Would a uni filter work just as well?

Yes I got those jets and filter at a Honda dealer. I am told the TwinAir filter does not flow quite as well as a bare K&N, but if you ride in dusty conditions you would have to run an outerwears cover which reduces a K&N's flow to the same as a TwinAir. I want performance, but I do not wish to sacrafice reliability for it.

WOW I just looked at the microfiche online for the rancher and YES the 350 has the same #130 main as the 450. I guess you could feel comfortable going with a #140 main with and exhaust and aif filter mod. Most Honda dealers do carry the K&N power kit wich includes jets, but it cost $130 US. I just went to the parts counter and asked for a #135 and #140 main as well as a TwinAir filter.

03foreman,
So if I just get a new main jet #140, can I stay w/ the stock muffler an air filter?
