I would buy a winch rated at at least 2000lbs with at least 50ft of cable.I have always used warn as have most of my friends with no problems at all with any of them. One friend does have a 2000lb superwinch that he bought because it was cheaper but it just doesn't seem to have the same pulling power as the warns of the same rating.

Bigred1, The winch looks good on your Rancher. Looks like you might have used it. (Because of your pics.) -- I usually snug the hook up against the rollers so it doesn't move around. (It would 5uck to bump the button and bend your rack.) I took a piece of strap, folded it in half and sewed a loop in it. Then I hooked the strap onto the hook to pull the hook out. (Instead of using the metal hook/bar that comes with the winch.) (Warn uses a strap.) Just a couple suggestions. Also, how do you like the Tusk winch?

Good idea about the strap. I use a rubber bungee cord to hook my winch cable to my rack. It keeps it from rattling around and like you mentioned, it won't bend the rack on accident.

thinks for the information. hey jerms, we got out about four hours later. I got my truck stuck too. Then I had to call my brother with a Z71. It was a bad day that day.

Hahaha, sounds like you had fun. I'm planning on going riding this Saturday with my Bro-in-law who is visiting from Minnesota. I have a friend who is nice enough (or stupid enough ) to loan us his 4x4 quad so we can ride together before he goes back home.
