new 300ex owner!
hey guys, i finally bought my first quad! i bought an 02' 300ex yesterday fer $2900. this is a great quad except im used to ridding a 250 recon and im not used to the clutch everytime i shift yet. i have a few questions bout it too. first off what aftermarket exhaust would be the best? my buddy has a 350 warrior and i want to be able to beat him up until he hits 6th. also, what else do ya fellas recomend fer performance upgrades? i also need some suggestions on skid plates. thanks, nathan.

Congrats. on a great wheeler man.
I'd start off by getting a Curtis Sparks or Pro Circuit T-4 pipe (full system), then get a UNI filter, remove the airbox lid, rejet for that setup. A cam by Hotcams would be good, and a higher compression piston....11:1. As for skidplates the stock ones are trash! I like AC's full skiplate but woul go with a stanless swingarm skid as that sees the most abuse. I don't really care that much for aluminum a-arm skids...but the platic maier ones will keep the paint on them...ad help prevent rust.
Good Luck with your new quad.
PS after getting it piped & filterd bump up a tooth on the front sprocket...from 13T to 14T...it makes first gear more useful and will add to your top speed some...3 or 4 mph.
And different tires will really help over the stock balloon rear tires....RAZRS & Holeshots are really good all around tires...but don'tgo with 22" .... 20" is plenty big..IMO.
