Put a cam in a foreman 450 or buy a Vinson 5 speed
#1
I have a 2003 foreman 450ES, I guess I did not do enough research before I bought as it seems somewhat underpowered and slow. I have put an exhaust, filter, and jetting, that has helped but I know I am going to get bored. I hate belt driven ATV's so my only other option would be to either put a cam in it, or sell it and buy a Vinson 5 speed. Has anyone put a Cam in a Foreman, what kind of power gains should I expect, and how hard of a job is it?
Thanks alot guy's

Oh yea buy a Vincen. Put brakes on them about every 500 mi. A belt $175.00. Body parts that you have to take a loan out for. A $1200.00 rear diff. A $1100.00 front diff. Racks that bend if you put a drop rack on the back and chainsaw press on the front. Get a Grizzly 660 before you do a Vinson. Heck get a Polaris 700. Do not do Suzuki kawasaki or Arctic cat you will hate it.

I agree with Harw somewhat, I wouldn't get a Suzuki Utility...never....they look cheap and flimsy and not that fast either. I think the Sportsman 500 is faster than the Vinson and I know it's way faster than a foreman 450s. If you have a few pennies I'd go ahead and get a Prairie 650 if you want real ***** and handling from a utility. The Sportsman 700 is also very fast, doesn't handle as well, but will take you deeper and farther in mud, water or swamps.
If your really that much into speed, why not buy a sport quad, they are light and handle like a dream (well, some of them) and most will smoke any Utility to h3||.
MY 3 cents :-D

The funny thing is I too once hated belt driven quads and now I own one. I decided to give it a shot and it works very well, only slipped once in some very deep water I was playing in for 10 minutes but it never stranded me or anything. The Kawi 650 so far seems to be a great quad and I'm sure the Vinson would do great too, the 5-spd one has more ***** than the belt one, they just need a diff lock and a bigger motor.
