I am about ready to get a 440 kit and cam for my 01 400ex. i was just wondering who made the best 440 kit and which cam is the best. also where did u all get your service manuals?

 

i dont no anything about who makes the best but you can get a service manual from your local dealer....

 

If you just want a 440 piston and a sleeve call curtis sparks and ask for a 88.5mm piston and sleeve. Go with a 11:1 J.E piston, any thing higher will cause your head gaskets to blow very often. If you don't plan on hard- facing your rocker arms then get a all-around web cam (451/450 grind). If you want to port your head sent it to curtis sparks or ct racing, both in california. This might take up to four months to do and get shipped back to you.

Or you can get a Hotcam's cam stage II...and skip the hardfacing expense also.

 

Yes, I run no muffler on my 440ex. Without the muffler my quad revs out faster and proven on the dyno, I get .8 of a horsepower more. I need all the horsepower I can get on my honda. It only works with a DMC or an exhuast that has two seperate headers. Try it!

 

I am a fan of Curtis Sparks, but i also like Trinity.
