i recently installed a superwinch on my rancher. is there a cheaper way to get or make a roller fairhead??
they are about $35-$40 in various magazines, if you look at one there is not much to it.

The cheapest roller fairlead is: none at all!

While a roller fairlead may look cool, in my opinion, a hawse fairlead remains perfectly adequate for typical ATV winching use.

Besides, cable is relatively inexpensive in the unlikely event you wear yours out.

If you must choose, the money should go to buy a ****** block first, a priority way ahead of a roller fairlead. My 1978 Superwinch ATV1500 and ****** block never left me stranded, even though it has only a hawse fairlead.

Good to see TreeFarmer back, active and giving good advice as always. We've missed your level-headed sound knowledge and opinion.

Thanks for the kind words, Hondahunter!

However, if you've noticed certain posts of late, my act plays to DECIDEDLY mixed review!

Thanks again,

Tree Farmer:
I'm with HondaHunter, glad to have you back! And, may I congratulate you on your recent work. Certainly stirred up a few folks around here. Kind of wondered how long it would last as things started to get a little fiesty there for a while. BTW, had to use my Warn, and ****** block this weekend to get up a really steep hill, covered in some deep, sloppy mud. (got stopped by a tree root, couldn't climb over it with the mud) Actually, it was an elk trail, so I was kind of surprised we made it as far as we did. Worked great, and was tons of fun!

Anyhow, good to see ya!

Mike
