Default 01 Foreman ES questions

Hi-just purchased this model in excellent shape. Problem is no owners manual. I have one on order but in the meantime can someone tell me what the oil capacity is for this model?

Also there is a wire attached to a sensor at the bottom of the oil pan that has been severed. I assume this is a temp sender for oil temp? Is this correct? I am going to splice it back together, but would like to replace with a new wire. Need to know what it is first though.

thanks

Default 01 Foreman ES questions

I am guessing the wire is probably a sensor for the oil temperature light. I dont have a 450 but i do have a foreman 400 4x4, and it holds exactly 2.2 quarts, so i would say to put that much in yours, and check the dipstick , and if it is in between the marks on the dipstick, then start it and let the oil filter fill up, and check it again, and if you have to then you can add some more to it. I also use SAE10W40 because in the owners manual it says that this oil is good for temperatures ranging from -15 degrees farenheit to 100 or more degrees farenheit. Remember when you check the dipstick dont screw it in, or it will read off. It says to set it back down on there without screwing it on and then checking it in the owners manual. I have heard a lot of good about the foreman 450ES, good luck.
