Default 86' 250R Problems Need Help

i want to buy a three wheeler and converting it into a fourwheeler and i found a 1986 250R which is a great engine but the guy said it wont spark. He said he thinks its the stator not starter, stator. I know about building three wheelers but when it comes to the engine that is my weak part. and i was wondering if fixing them is hard and expensive? Is it worth to buy? he is asking 800 for it and if the part is cheap and easy i bealive i will buy it but i need help thanks

p.s if u think it could be anything else let me know thanks

It could be the stator...those are about $250 new, but you can get em on Ebay for $60 or so...used of course..but IMO 8 bills is too much for that....I'd offer him 6.

And as for the ATC to ATV conversion..bad idea man...it will never be right and never handle even remotey close to a 250R which is one reason why they are so popular...just find yourself a TRX250r and fix that up...

Yeah the conversion sounds like a bad idea... Just take a look at ATV frame parts alone and you'll get an
idea that you can buy a decent used ATV for alot less than what you'll spend on a conversion. THe no-spark
problemo could be stator, or coil/cdi, etc and yes that will be expensive, and a pain in the butt.

Regards,
