SNOW PLOW INFO....
#1
I ordered a plow from swisher co. They recommend installing a support that runs underneath the atv and then using u-bolts to secure it. I studied underneath the P650, and there is really no good way to attach a support. Does anybody know if just attaching it to the front of the atv will be sturdy enough. I mean the winch only attaches to the front and it will support 1500lbs of force? Any info will be greatly appreciated.

I just spent my evening installing my new Swisher plow on my 02 P650. I didn't read anything about installing u-bolts to support it at all. I haven't even used it yet (it's 10 pm here, my neighbor wouldn't appreciate it too much!!) so I'll wait until morning. It seems pretty sturdy to me. I did have to remove the cv axle covers to put the brackets for the leaf spring on the lower control arms, but other than that, it was pretty straight forward. I am curious about the u-bolts. Any additional info would be great. I don't want to damage my new plow.

650crazy: I almost bought that set up but decided on the Glacier system instead, I have a few questions if you dont mind:
how do you like that Swisher system so far?
when the plow is off is there anythng that stays attached? how much clearance does it rob?
and how high does the blade come off the ground when pulled up?
TIA!

I have a 60" Cycle Country plow and it mounts to plates that bolt to the running boards. Then has clevis pins that attatch the plow mount to these plates. They hang down about an 1 1/2" at the maximum point. They said, and I will do it also, to take them off for off roading. I leave them on all winter, I would leave them on permanently if it was just a work quad, but don't wan't to bend them up when cralling over a log or something. I use my winch to raise and lower it, and I can take it off and on (except for the plates) in less than 1 min.

MRH, I am looking for a "state plow" for my '03 P650. I was looking at the Cycle Country and the Moose setup.
I have a Warn 2.5 winch, so that should do for lifting it I guess. Can you or anyone else give some feedback on which blade width to go with, ( 52" or 60" ) ? If I go 52 is that wide enough to clear the width of the tires ?
Also can anyone recommend a seller with a good price and reputation ?

The reason I went with the 60 is so when it is angled it is still wider than my 589's with the offset wheel. I don't have any first hand experince with the "state plow" I can say that I am very pleased with plow. It is very heavy built and heavy so it holds it self down fairly well without additional weight. It is easy to adjust the skids, which was imprtant to me because I do asphalt and gravel. I would not reccommend getting a very light plow as they ride up onto the snow off the ground easily and bend easily if you hit something. Also heavier springs are almost a must for a heavy plow as my plow weighs 60 lbs.
The one thing that I did not like is combined with the low winch mounting position on my p700 and the offset point at which to hook the winch to the plow, my cable would hit the angle pin. Cycle country may have another bracket for this, I did not check and I did not buy it directly from them so this question never cam up, but I made one that allowed my winch cable to be more straight on and not interfear with the pin operation.

Go w/ the 60" blade. I run a Moose 60" blade on my Kodiak 450 and it's perfect. If I had your quad, I'd get the 60" blade too. When angled, you aren't pushing the full 60" of snow, but it's fairly close depending on the angle you choose. I got my plow, push bar, and mounting kit for $375 OTD from Denniskirk.com
