Just for some more info, I live in Dillingham, AK along the coast of the Bristol Bay, part of the Bering Sea. This area is the worlds largest sockeye salmon fishery, but most that we caught this morning are kings and chums. The reds will start there run in a few more weeks. After you have lived in Alaska for at least a year, you can subsistance fish by putting a net out in the water. The fish just swim into the gill net and can't get out. Once the tide goes down you can just pick the fish and clean them! MMMMMM good!!! We have caught over 100 in the net at one time before. I think we hade 31 this morning. Not bad for free food.
