Remington 7400 .308. Small, potent, easy to find ammo and a fast follow up if needed.

I like my 243 in a remington 700 BDL for most shooting a sierra 100gr game king it's a real tack driver. If the terrain is wooded or the bucks get really big I would switch to my 30-06 with 165gr sierra game king. If I think I might still need more then its the 300 Win Mag with 180gr Hornady interlock but this is generally for elk. I really like the 243 for whitetail small-medium size muel deer and open area. Still have a 30-30 for those black forest hunts but I like to make things a long ways away fall down.

I use a 7mm rem mag......load my own ammo.

Use 120 gr. Hornaday V-Max bullets pushing an easy 3750-3800 ft/sec....I like to watch stuff blow up
