the smallest rifle you have shot moose or deer with?

im goin to use my 30-06 with 180 grain bullets. i dont feel like tracking long. shooting 1 with a .22 i would def go for a head shot. i did shoot a deer with a wrist rocket once. he jumped like 8 feet but lived

Placement is key. You can kill anything with a 22 LR, but placement is the thing. I have killed wild hogs with a .223 savage from 120 yards away, but that is because I head shot them. I think that the .223 is a little light weight for deer and larger animal, but it can do the job. The 30-06 is a great all around rifle for deer or moose. I shoot the 7mm rem mag. I shoot a Remington Model 7 with a Vari-X III 3x9 scope and I have killed deer, elk and planning on something in Alaska soon. Fit for use. If a .22 is all you had and you have to kill something, you can do it, but it would not be my first choice.

The smallest that I have ever shot moose with would also be the only one... I use a Browning BAR .300 Win Mag with BOSS and a Leupold VAR-XII 4-12 A/O scope and Winchester Supream bullets.
