Shot a bigger doe than the previous one Saturday night. Looked great but nothing but guts on the arrow. Let her go that night. Went out and tracked her from last blood at 7am the next morning. Died not 70 yards from the stand. While I'm not completely sold on the Crimson Talons, I am impressed. Pass-through on about an 8-yard quartering-to shot with only about 50-55 lbs. of draw weight.

Our 12 yr. old Grandson got a nice doe today in the special youth gun antlerless hunt. He was pretty excited, and so was I. He had a shot just before sunrise and missed. At about 10:30 he got another chance, and made a great shot.

Outdoornut- It's always an awesome expierience when a youngster gets to go hunting! Not to mention the fact he harvested his first deer. Kudo's- to you for taking the time to take him out!
Hozed- I'am almost in the same boat! I'am going to a Ranch in Montana next year to hunt elk, and deer, (both whitetail, and mule). The trip is going to cost around $3000! I've got until next October to come up with $2000 as I already have 1.

I really like the NAP spitfire mechanical broadheads. I've been using 100 grain 2 blade, but I am going to try the 3 blade. They have awsome flight on longer shots and I have never had any problem with penetration.
For those of you considering a 4 blade (fixed) broadhead, be carefull, they plane a lot. I bought some Rocky 4-blade broadheads on sale once and after about 15 yards the arrow would fly off course worse than when I hit a golf ball. I thought my arrows were bent, but when I switched back to the 3-blade they flew fine. This was before mechanicle broadheads of course.
