What grip glue to use with under grip heaters
#1
Some of you hunters probably use heated grips. I want to install the under-the-grip heating elements, like the Simpex brand. Can you tell me what grip glue to use for the installation of the grips over the elements?
I want to be sure that the heating elemements do not make the grip glue come loose.

I haven't used those types of heated grips, I have Cycle Country heated grips. I use two-part slow-setting expoxy. I have no problems with the grips coming loose, but then again this is a different setup...
Usually expoxy will not be affected by the heat that heated grips put out....I ran mine on high for over an hour until my hands were getting two warm this weekend and switched to low for another hour, then turned them off when the temperature outside got over 30 degrees as my hands were plenty warm....

I used 3M Weatherstrip Adhesive and had no problems. It bonds rubber and metal together great.
Just make sure to use adhesive remover first to clean the old glue off good before you put the new ones on.
If you are taking the old grips off and need to reuse them just use compressed air and blow it in the end to break the glue loose, that is if you have access to an air compressor. The grip falls right off (or at least it will on the Arctic Cats)
Also be sure to run them through a fuse that disconnects with the ignition key. That way your battery will not run down when you forget to shut them off.

In my younger days, we used simple dish soap to put the grips on with.. after it dried, it was sticky enough that th egrips stayed in place... the nice thing was it made them go on real easy, but you had to go all the way in one motion.. once you stopped, it was not going any further. Twist it slightly as you put them on.
