My bow season will only be one or two days in Sept and it will be the hot part of Sep too. It will probably mostly be cleaning up my tree stands for my wife while I'm in Afghanistan.
Anyway, there are a lot of 3-D tournaments going on right now. If you've never shot a 3-D, you don't know what you're missing.

A lot of guys are afraid to go to 3-D shoots because they think only the best shooters in the country go to them and they don't want to be embarassed. I'm telling ya, these things are family oriented events. Most outdoor events are getting extremly creative making the shots as realistic as possible.
For anyone that hasn't been to a 3-D shoot, it's like playing golf (at least the outdoor ones). You're either by yourself or with your buddies and there is no one there to heckle you except your friends. Indoor shoots everyone usually stand side by side, but you aren't looking at the guy (or girl) next to you and they aren't looking at you.
If you like shooting paper targets, there are a lot of 300, 600 and vegas shoots going on. If you aren't familiar with these types of tournaments, the guys putting it on will be more than happy to explain it to you.
So RedGoblin, there is no excuse.

i usually get my fix with putting up camera's in the woods to scout out the local wildlife spending time in the woods, planting food plots, that kind of thing. right now i am building a deerstand totally enclosed 59 inches by 69 inches all metal except the floor. i am only 24 but i would actually rather shoot alot of wildlife with a camera then with a rifle or bow but man do i love that thrill before releasing that arrow or pulling that trigger. i also spend alot of time clearing trails and picking out that big buck to tie to a tree 20 yards from my stand 2 days before season lol j/k

Most of the 3-d ranges around here are open all the time. You dont have to enter a tournament to shoot. Just pay a small range fee, usually less than an organize shoot entry. Go try it you will really like it shooting at unknown ranges will hone your skills for when hunting season does open up. Come on October 1st!!!!!!!!!
