Continuation of the bowhunting thread
#1
The last bowhunter thread generated some interest. I thought it would be fun to hear your most memorable bowhunting story. I'll go first :-)
I just started bowhunting 2 years ago. My wife gave me her dads old bear bow to use so I didn't have to drop a few hundred on a new bow if I didn't like the sport. Anyway..... to make a long story short...... the first day of the first season at 8:35 I shot my first dear with a bow. Perfect shot to say the least. The spikie stood right beheind one of my 20 yard trees to my left (two other does then walked up a few yards beheind him), just so I could see his rear end. I pull back and waited for him to step out. As I calm myself down, he takes two or three steps out and stood there. I release my carbon and nailed him right throu the heart. He ran 60 yrds. downhill and dropped dead.
Afterwards, I said to my wife, this has got to be the best deer season I've hunted in years, but also the worst. My deer season for that year was over at 8:35 on the first day.
